Tourists in Prague on holidays don’t drink before covid. It raided other markets
The PCT launched the Stay in Prague campaign, which attracts tourists to the metropolis not only from the surrounding countries, but also from the Netherlands, Italy and Poland.
This year, we have avoided a lot of travelers coming to the metropolis in view of the ongoing pandemic and the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. According to current data, we are at 70 and 75 percent of 2019. This is an ideal situation for the city in terms of overtourism (pemry tourist, note editor) last year. Moreover, it can be seen that by including other sources of markets, we were able to replace the absence of tourists from Russia, said the chairman of the supervisory board of the PCT, Petr Zeman (Prague Sob).
According to the PCT, thanks to member campaigns, it is possible to replace the influx of tourists from Russia, who before the invasion of Ukraine formed a large group of foreign immigrants. This is the purpose of the campaign campaign, which draws visitors to the magical atmosphere of December in Prague and a program promoting the spirit of Vnoce.
When setting up the outdoor campaign, we based it on the data of the summer Stay in Prague campaign, so we aimed for the neighboring countries together with the Netherlands, Italy and Spain, where the campaign recorded the best results. Thus, we have launched the website prague.eu/christmas, where visitors can find information about Prague, the market or individual events, said Frantiek Cipro, chairman of the board of the PCT. The modified website also works for domestic visitors to Prague.
For the off-season, the PCT has thus expanded the offer of services with the city tourist card Prague Visitor Pass. In addition to classic monuments, public transport or guided walks, the new hockey matches of HC Sparta Prague or the World Cup are included in Manifesto Andl.
Last year, 945,392 domestic tourists arrived in Prague, which was an increase of 30 percent. Compared to 2019, i.e. before the covid-19 pandemic, it was a significant number. A total of 2.36 million people stayed in hotels, guesthouses and campsites in Prague last year, an increase of 8.1 percent.
