The first artists for Melodifestivalen revealed
14 of the 28 artists competing in Melodifestivalen 2023 have been announced by SVT.
The artists in Heat 1 and Heat 2 were announced today, and the artists competing in Heat 3 and Heat 4 will be announced tomorrow (Wednesday 30 November).
A total of 28 acts will compete in Melodifestivalen 2023, and one of these will represent Sweden at the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 in Liverpool.

Most of the first 14 participants in Melodifestivalen 2023 have competed in the competition before. One of them is a former Eurovision representative:

- February 18: Round 3 (Lidköping)
- February 25: Round 4 (Malmö)
- March 4: Semi-final (Örnsköldsvik)
- March 11: Final (Stockholm)
Melodifestivalen 2023 will follow almost the same format as 2022. 7 songs will compete in each of the 4 heats; 2 qualify directly for the final and another 2 qualify for the semi-final. In the semi-finals, 8 songs will compete and the best 4 songs will qualify for the final.
Hosts for all shows will be Jesper Rönndahl and Farah Abadi.
Sweden in the Eurovision Song Contest
Since 1958, Sweden has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 61 times, and with great success. They have won the competition 6 times:
They last came twice (1963 and 1977), and since the semi-finals were introduced in 2004, Sweden have managed to qualify for the grand final 17 out of 18 times (only failing to qualify in 2010)!
