Prague 3 has a new mayor! He became Michal Vronský (TOP 09) from the winning coalition
So far, Prague 3 has been ruled by a coalition, only without Prague 3 Sobě, who is a newcomer to the council. In the past period, Vronský worked as the chairman of the committee for upbringing and education. Now, as mayor, he will be in charge of, for example, crisis management and security, external relations and communication, or foreign relations. “I will try to be a good mayor,” he said after his election.
Before the election, the new mayor presented six priorities of the new coalition. The first is friendly and open communication, and the new management of the town hall will also want to focus on sustainable management, energy and property management, the environment, improving the quality of life of residents and the planned construction in the area of the former Žižkov Freight Station.
Opposition representative Mojmír Mikuláš (Patrioti pro Praha 3) called it unfortunate that the opposition did not receive the coalition’s program statement in advance, and the meeting was unsuccessfully adjourned for a week to give the opposition time to study it. Today, representatives sat for the third time at the constituent meeting, having previously interrupted the meeting twice due to the absence of an agreement on a coalition. After today’s election in the metropolis, only Prague 11 lacks new leadership from the larger city districts.
Vronský said on Facebook some time ago that he would prefer a more stable arrangement with more mandates than a coalition with 19 votes. However, Pirates, Zelení and Praha 3 Sobě refused to cooperate with ODS. Today, Vronský said that he, in turn, had already defined himself before the elections against cooperation with the ANO movement. According to him, the previous coalition had results despite some problems, so its actual continuation makes sense.
The coalition TOP 09 and STAN won the municipal elections in Prague 3 with 11 mandates. Second came the Coalition for P3 (ODS, KDU-ČSL) with six mandates, third ANO also with six and fourth the Pirates with four representatives. The Greens, Praha 3 Sobě, the Trikolory and SPD coalition and Patriots for Praha 3 also got into the council, each of the four groups has two representatives. The current mayor, Ptáček, did not defend the position and got into the district council from the third place candidate.
