However, Prague is still ruled by the outgoing mayor and at the same time by new members of the council. however, the final version of the budget should be approved by the end of the year at the latest. Otherwise, in 2023, Prague will find itself in a so-called provisional budget. This means that the city would manage the same amount of money in the next year as in the previous year. However, each month was not allowed to spend more than one twelfth of the total amount. However, due to rising inflation, this could be a problem.
Just to give an idea, such a situation would affect, for example, public transport, social and health services or the field of education. This would also put some city districts in a difficult situation. Their budgets are closely linked with the city budget.
The Prague representatives have already approved the information document on the preparation of the budget. The municipal budget department is now working on the document, it will be discussed by council committees and then it will be published on the official board. Deputies should discuss the final version of the draft budget on December 15.
