Genoa Dam, Rixi: “It will allow development for the next 90 years” – Primocanale.it
GENOA – “The dam is fundamental, it is the most important maritime work in the country. It will allow Genoa to have developments for the next 80-90 years, so it’s a momentous thing. It is a unique engineering work in the world and therefore we will have important firsts in Italy”. These are the words with which the Deputy Minister for Infrastructures Edoardo Rixi explains the importance of the Genoa dam on the sidelines of a meeting with Lega voters, who he wanted to thank for the electoral campaign, which was also attended by the governor of Liguria Giovanni Toti and the mayor of Genoa Marco Bucci: “I’m here to celebrate all those people who gave us a hand during a summer that was tough, not only because campaigning in August isn’t easy, but because so many people even gave up their summer holidays to give us a hand and stay close to so this is their party.”
Rixi then takes stock of the Gronda, for which “the signing of the protocol will always be at the beginning of December. It is a necessary work to be able to then subsequently regenerate the current connection system which, if traffic is not removed, cannot be adequately placed okay. Today we have a series of building sites but as they say in Genoa they are more ‘tapulli’ than structural situations“.
“We will really have to rebuild some of the works over the next twenty years – he continues – and to do this we will need an alternative road network which is precisely the Gronda. It was designed for that, to unload the Genoa hub and allow the Morandi bridge to be demolished. If it had happened between the end of the 80s and the beginning of the 90s, perhaps we would not have had that tragedy in Genoa. Different choices have been made and I believe that today we can no longer wait. There is not only the eaves of Genoa but we will unblock many similar works throughout the Italian peninsula, precisely to bring all our motorways and roads into line with the regulations. It is clear that this will cause some discomfort but no more than what we have experienced up to now, indeed there will probably be some improvement“.
“This is the betting government – concludes Rixi -, we are betting that Italy can go back to being a country that can think of challenging other countries by dreaming, launching grandiose ideas as has also happened in our renaissance and in a good part of our history. We must go back to being proud of being Italian, not for what we were but for what we can be”.
