Alpine Skiing – World Cup. Descent of Lake Louise: the first of the winter for Aleksander Aamodt Kilde, nice top 10 for Johan Clarey
Holder of the small globe, Aleksander Aamodt Kilde won this Saturday, the first downhill of the season in Lake Louise. The Norwegian was one breath ahead of Daniel Hemetsberger (+0”06) and the prodigy Marco Odermatt (3rd, +0”10). Johan Clarey finishes first in France (6th, +0”88). The other Blues are further away.
Finally, the descenders are back! Left on their hunger Friday because of the fog, Johan Clarey and others launched their season this Saturday in Lake Louise (Canada). And for this first it was Aleksander Aamodt Kilde, world champion in the specialty, who won ahead of Daniel Hemetsberger (+0”06) and the prodigy Marco Odermatt (+0”10).
The Norwegian, took advantage of his gliding qualities to compensate for the incredible technique of the Swiss in the lead before the last stretch towards the finish, and achieved the best performance of his career on the Canadian track (6th at best so far).
Longer, Matthias Mayer and Beat Feuz finished respectively at four and six tenths.
First Habs, the Olympic downhill vice-champion, Johan Clarey takes 6th place at 88 hundredths. Le Tignard made a big mistake in the intermediate part which probably cost him the podium.
As for the other Tricolores, they are much further away, Mathieu Bailet just enters the provisional top 15 (+1”72, after 33 bibs), Maxime Muzaton points beyond the top 20 (23rd, +2”21 ) as Adrien Théaux (29th, +2”45), for his return from injury. Nils Allègre (39th, +3”07), Alexis Pinturault (40th, 3”12)Blaise Giezendanner (43rd, +3”23) and Sam Alphand (53rd, +3”76) score no points.
