rue du pont Saint-Pierre under construction from Monday 28 November
This Monday, November 28 begins an important phase of work on the rue du pont Saint-Pierre (Saint-Cyprien side) in Toulouse. The latter will eventually be one-way and designed for cyclists and pedestrians. This first stage of the project will last until March 2023.
This Monday, November 28, 2022 begins a first phase of work on rue du pont Saint-Pierre, the street that leads to the eponymous bridge on the Saint-Cyprien side in Toulouse. For several months, the workers will work to enlarge the sidewalks and remove the parking lots on the even side of the street. Trees, shrubs and green spaces will be planted there.
The project, number one citizen consultation aims to develop pedestrian and cycle paths along this street which leads to the Saint-Pierre bridge. The bridge was made entirely pedestrian and cycle-friendly last summer, for the duration of an experiment. An experiment extended until September 18th.
On the Saint-Cyprien side, the rue du pont Saint-Pierre will offer, at the end of the works, “more safety and comfort” for cyclists and pedestrians who use it. This ax is a “strategic link between the districts of the left bank and the right bank”Explain Toulouse town hall.
As of next fall, a new phase of work will begin to allow the creation of a two-way bike path. For cars, the street will then become one-way, from Saint-Cyprien to the Garonne.
Throughout the duration of the work, traffic is maintained in this street, as is access to shops.
The first phase of work should be completed in March 2023.
