reopening of the Nakache winter swimming pool after several weeks of closure
It had been closed for several months: the swimming pool Nakache winter is open to the public again since Thursday, November 24. The basin had been closed last July, initially for routine maintenance work. But after the discovery of the degradation of the steels of the floor of the small basin, the closing of the Nakache swimming pool had been extended.
If the damage only concerned the small basin, the large one had been impacted since its maintenance was impossible, the necessary technical installations being unusable. Note that the small pool remains “closed until further notice”, indicates the municipality.
Occasional closures to come
Despite the reopening of the Nakache swimming poolToulouse residents will have to do without it again for a weekend, since the infrastructure will be closed on Saturday December 3 and Sunday December 4 due to the departmental swimming championship, but also on Wednesday December 14 from 4 p.m. to 6.30 p.m. , on the occasion of the Christmas party organized by the TOEC Dolphins club.
Built in 1934 on the island of Ramier, the Nakache winter swimming pool is classified as a historical monument for its art deco architecture. It was named in tribute to Alfred Nakache, TOEC swimmer and world record holder in the 200m butterfly stroke in 1941. Nicknamed the swimmer from Auschwitz, he had been deported during the Second World War, but had resisted the Holocaust.
