Armed Forces: 80 recruits of Jäger Battalion 8 sworn in
At the beginning of November, 8-80 recruits joined the Jäger battalion. In the last four weeks, they completed their basic training and languages on November 24th in the Schwarzenberg barracks, taking the oath of allegiance to the Republic of Austria.
For service in the army
Battalion commander Colonel Stefan Haselwanter congratulated the recruits on their achievements so far: “Above all, they learned the basics of a soldier.
“Through their willingness to do military service, especially in these difficult times, they make a personal contribution to ensuring that our homeland, our people, our families can live in safety. You contribute to Austria remaining one of the ten safest countries in the world. I would like to thank you for your willingness to take on this temporary and not always easy service at home, especially in these uncertain times, and wish you all the best for the rest of your service and stay healthy,” said Colonel Haselwanter.
The military commander of Salzburg, Brigadier Anton Waldner, emphasized in his speech: “You, the recruits of the October enlistment, will speak your vow of loyalty as soldiers in a few minutes. Such a pledge of allegiance is a serious matter. As a weapon bearer, you are in a special relationship. We soldiers are the only group that can demand the use of life and health and will also demand it in an emergency. We soldiers therefore value peace and should never stop appreciating peace as a unique good describe what our fathers and mother worked hard for us and which today seems to us to be one thing above all: as a matter of course!”
“I vow…!”
The highlight of the celebration was the pledge of allegiance by the young recruits. Two selected soldiers speak the pledge of allegiance with their hands on the insignia. The religious part was introduced by a chorale and performed by the military chaplains Richard Weyringer and Oliver Gross. The ceremony was accompanied by music from the Salzburg military band.
