Toulouse. Six environmental activists arrested after traffic blockage in city center

A new punchy action, hallmark of Latest Renovation. As a reminder, Last Renovation is a “civil resistance” campaign conducted throughout France. Goal: get a thermal renovation plan for the park French real estate and force the government to act in this area.
And to make their voices heard, activists are stepping up shock actions: blocking the ring road in Toulouse and other major cities in France or even interrupting sporting events.
Two activists had thus interrupted the Stade Toulousain-Stade français meeting on November 5 clinging to Ernest-Wallon’s rugby posts.
Tense situation
This Thursday, it is therefore at the foot of the buildings of Toulouse metropolis carried out their action, caused traffic jams in the sector. The situation is especially complicated for large vehicles. According to our journalist on the spot, the cars manage to get out of traffic jams by taking a perpendicular direction forbidden to Boulevard Marendo.
“We would like not to do that”
Nevertheless, the action of Last renovation does not only make people happy and some motorists have lost their cool.
Mathilde, a 23-year-old young woman who is taking part in the action, explains: ” We don’t have fun annoying people, we would like not to do that Unfortunately, with the climatic and social emergency, 2200 people die each year because of poorly insulated housing. »
The police arrive on the scene
The police arrive on the spot shortly before 9 a.m., equipped with tools to be able to cut the chains of the demonstrators. The chains have been cutcausing sparks near the demonstrators.
The grinder out
In the end, six activists were arrested peacefully. Shortly after 9:15 a.m., traffic returned to normal.
This action takes place on November 24, the national day for the fight against fuel poverty.
