almost no trains between Castelnaudary and Toulouse this Thursday
A hell of a mess on the rails. This Wednesday, November 23, 2022, a derailed fret train
at Carcassonne station. Result : traffic is interrupted until Saturday November 26 (at least) between Castelnaudary and Narbonne.
Substitute buses
Traffic is complicated from Toulouse. Pour them long-distance trainssuch as Perpignan, Marseilles or Lyon, the SCNF invites travelers to postpone their trips, without specifying the date of return to normal. There are trains between Toulouse and Castelnaudary but the service is degraded: the SNCF has defined some especially at peak times to facilitate the journey of commuters, daily travellers. There is for example a TER departing from Toulouse at 4:05 p.m. for Castelnaudary. Then you will need to take a bus set up for 5pm to continue.
The railway company has also set up six substitute buses between Castelnaudary and Narbonne for this Thursday, November 24. Beyond Narbonne, traffic is guaranteed.
From Carcassonne, there is a bus that leaves at 10:21 a.m. and arrives at 12:44 p.m., one that leaves at 10:40 a.m. and arrives at 1:03 p.m. You can listen to France Bleu for your traffic information and find out about https://www.ter.sncf.com/occitanie
A special Lyon site crane
We do not yet know exactly the consequences of this derailment. The train that went off the track was still there Thursday noon. The dock is damaged. A special crane was on its way from Lyon at the end of the morning. The rails were damaged but it is not yet known to what extent. SNCF RĂ©seau agents are on site and must inspect hundreds of meters of track. Futures repairs are likely to be heavy and time-consuming.
