The UN Human Rights Council has decided on an international investigation into the bloody crackdown on the protests in Iran. A mission is to collect evidence for possible prosecution.
A resolution tabled by Germany and Iceland passed in Geneva by 25 votes in favour. This was part of a special session of the council on Thursday. Six members vote against 16 more themselves. An independent investigative mission is now to document human rights violations in Iran and collect evidence for possible criminal prosecution of those responsible.
Iranian authorities are reacting harshly to protests
