Index – Economy – Mol and Budapesti Közművek establish a joint waste collection company
The declaration of intent lays down the main principles of the creation and future operation of the new company jointly founded by the two companies, according to BKM Budapesti Közművek Nonprofit Zrt. and from the statement of Mol.
Based on the non-binding letter of intent, the new company will, according to plans, perform the waste management public service tasks of Budapest and fifty nearby settlements from July 1, 2023, after the transition to the new national waste management concession model. Mol Nyrt. and BKM Budapesti Közművek Nonprofit Zrt. will be the owners of the new company 50 percent each, and the Capital Public Areas maintenance company will provide it with its equipment park, premises, and make its 1,300 employees available.
The Waste Management Division of Budapesti Közművek FKF currently collects approximately 650,000 tons of waste annually for the approximately two million residents and tens of thousands of businesses in Budapest and ten agglomeration settlements. Budapesti Közművek will have access to the resources in the joint venture that will ensure the value-adding developments of the waste management assets, and Mol will be able to fulfill its obligations in the concession tender.
In this former in our article we wrote about the fact that starting next year, Mol will order the collection, transport and processing of waste instead of municipalities. The oil company that won the waste management concession rights for 35 years will sign contracts with the municipalities and decide when and from which street it will take the garbage, as well as what to do with the waste.
