Toulouse: bikers in the region will demonstrate against compulsory technical inspection, Saturday November 26
At the call of the French Federation of Angry Bikers (FFMC31), the bikers of the region will manifest themselves, Saturday, November 26 from 1:30 p.m., on the Toulouse ring road. They oppose the implementation of compulsory technical inspection for motorcycles, from 2023.
“This is just the first round of protests.” The coordinator of the Federation of Angry Bikers of Haute-Garonne announces that the return to the table of compulsory technical control for motorcycles will provoke anger and multiple demonstrations from bikers.
Demonstration Saturday November 26 at 1:30 p.m. on the Toulouse ring road, disruptions to be expected
Saturday November 26, the bikers of Midi-Pyrénées will show up from 1:30 p.m. A “reduced speed” operation will take place from the Candie circuit in Toulouse, then on the A64 going up towards Toulouse, and on the ring road. “The group will split into two at the entrance to Toulouse, to return to Candie”, announces Maurice Caubel. On the other hand, there is no question of entering the city center. The prefecture, informed of the demonstration, banned it.
On the substance of the problem, the bikers do not accept the decision of the Council of State, which last July led to the return of the obligation of compulsory technical inspection for motorcycles. Theoretically from January 1, 2023, but in fact certainly not before mid-2023, the time that the technical control centers are equipped and trained, the motorcycles will have to pass the technical control. For example, for a motorcycle registered before January 1, 2016, the technical inspection must be carried out in 2023.
The Low Emission Zone also in the center of the viewfinder
The FFMC 31 and the federations of neighboring departments will be joined by the Fédération Bikers de France Délégation d’Occitanie, Macadam Passion and the Club des Corsaires. They also denounce the treatment of motorcyclists in the Low Emission Zone (ZFE), which excludes the most polluting vehicles from an area including Toulouse inside the ring road, and the western ring road. “The motorcycle is a vehicle that makes traffic more fluid, and participates in the fight against pollution, as a minimum of particles and greenhouse gases, compared to certain automobiles”, believes Maurice Caubel.
