Barça Mercato: Galatasaray could make a nice gift to Barcelona
Eager to recruit this winter, FC Barcelona must get rid of some undesirables and could be helped by Galatasaray.
A few weeks before the opening of the transfer market in Europe, Barça is already looking for formulas to be able to recruit without getting into the red. Endowed with a fragile economy, the Catalan club nevertheless wishes to highlight itself in particular as a right-back for the second half of the season. But this signature can only take place in the event of an upstream departure. And precisely, FC Barcelona would have identified the player to be sacrificed to allow his recruitment this winter, the striker Memphis Depay.
The Dutch international no longer fits into the plans of his coach, Xavi, and is therefore looking for a base. If he is very attached to Barça, the center forward knows that his playing time will be low in the second half of the season, which is why a transfer in January seems inevitable. In addition, his departure can allow the club to free up a large wage bill, allowing the recruitment of a new player thereafter. The idea of the leaders of FC Barcelona would be to terminate Depay’s contract amicably so that the latter can find a club more easily this winter. If Sevilla FC follows him with interest, the former OL striker could possibly join a more exotic destination.
Barça Mercato: Galatasaray wants to recruit Memphis Depay in January
According to information from Mundo Deportivo, Memphis Depay would have become Galatasaray’s priority for the next transfer window. The Turkish club have already caused discussions with the Dutchman’s entourage for a free arrival. If the file remains complex, the 2nd in the Süper Lig could offer the 28-year-old a six-month freelance contract as well as a higher salary than at Barcelona. Nevertheless, Depay would keep playing the Champions League in the second half of the season, a condition which is currently blocking his arrival with the Istanbulites.
