Prague – Police officers are investigating the attack on an Aktuálně.cz journalist by participants in a protest against the government and Czech Television (ČT), who became a server in Prague on November 17. They are investigating whether or not there was an illegal act. On twitter that’s what the police said today. Server Currently.cz published a video showing the events of the protest and the commentary of its reporter Radek Bartoníček.
“The police are investigating the incident captured on video and are investigating whether it was an illegal act or not,” the police said. He wants to announce the conclusion of the investigation when “circumstances allow”, he added.
Bartoníček stated that during the demonstrations, he mapped the general events, conducted interviews and filmed the crowd in front of him. During that time, some individuals defended him outside the front of the procession, preventing anyone from moving, he described. “One of them knocked over my mobile phone, which I use to film,” he added. “The editor of our on-line hedges the role of the media and journalists as representatives of conflicts as representatives of any parties to disputes, we inform independently,” said the management of Aktuálně.cz.
Server Romeo.cz today drew attention to racist insults directed at ČT editor Richard Samko by one of the participants in the demonstration. He posted a video taken during the protest.
Thousands of people took part in the protest against the government and CT on Thursday, the anniversary of November 17, 1989 and 1939. They passed through Prague to the CT building. The march complicated traffic in Prague, it closed the main road from the center to Pankrác for about two hours, and the transport company had to divert the replacement bus service to metro C as well.
