NEWS INFO LYON. The City of Lyon will soon decide who will offer its self-service scooters. Lime, Tier, Dott or pony, who will win the market? None, if Bruno Bernard, president of the Métropole de Lyon, had to decide.
The elected environmentalist is against self-service scooters. In a maintenance granted exclusively to Lyon newsthe one who is also president of Sytral gives the reasons for this opposition.
“If it was me who decided, there would be none”
If it was me who decided, there would be none. But it’s not me today who manages the scooters in Lyon, Caluire or Rillieux. I discuss with the mayors concerned, with that of Lyon, Caluire and I will have the opportunity to speak about it with that of Rillieux. Moreover, it would be good to have this debate with the citizens.
The president of Greater Lyon wants “a break” from self-service scooters. “I don’t think the pros-cons balance is right.” For the elected environmentalist, the arrival of electric scooters represents a security risk and it’s a competition at Vélo’v.
Scooters “add on” problems
“We suddenly record a fall of half of the short-term subscribers who have switched to the scooter. This makes me wonder about this model and I don’t think it’s the right one,” says Bruno Bernard. It is certain that self-service scooters “add” problems to the conflict of use that already exists between motorists, cyclists and pedestrians…
The President of the Métropole underlines however that there has been progress thanks to the work of the City of Lyon, in particular on the scooter parking and the social status of the service providers’ employees.
