Parliament twice failed to gather a quorum – Politics – Bulgaria – NOVA News
Three of the parliamentary groups did not enter the hall
Deputies twice failed to gather a quorum for today’s parliament session. Out of a total of 240 people’s representatives, only 92 are registered.
The parliamentary groups of GERB, “Democratic Bulgaria” and “Continuing the Change” are not in the hall. The next attempt to gather a quorum will be around 10:30 am. Only DPS, “Vazrazhdane”, “Bulgarski Vozhod” and BSP register.
After the first attempt to gather a quorum, Iskren Mitev from “Prodluvame Promyanata” pointed out that the fact that they did not enter the hall was a political move and claimed that they refused to participate in the debates until it became clear what was the reason for the paper ballot to be the most – the very important thing in the National Assembly.
Hristo Ivanov from “Democratic Bulgaria” explains that the lack of a quorum does not prevent the National Assembly from working and reminded about the long meeting of the Legal Commission, in which the changes to the Election Code are discussed.
“If there are 89 people in the hall, it’s not because DB is missing,” he emphasizes and adds that their approach is correct. “It is clear that extreme measures must be taken to restore some sanity to the whole process,” he said.
