Facebook Live Petition for an SNCF line, City of Gastronomy, Olympic, property tax… The five strong words of François Rebsamen, Mayor of Dijon
1) Dijon-Lille SNCF line: “I am launching a petition for its recovery”
François Rebsamen was questioned about the disappearance of the Dijon-Lille SNCF line, which passed through Roissy-Charles-de-Gaulle airport. “When is his recovery? Asked two Internet users. The mayor of Dijon, who had obviously prepared his response, announced the launch of a petition on the Internet to restore the SNCF line. “It will be online tomorrow (Friday). Residents, business leaders, teachers: I need you to sign this petition; we will send it to the government,” said the mayor. “It is not acceptable not to have such a SCNF line in Dijon […] We are an international city, with more than 4000 international students (BSB, Science po) and the international vine and wine organization. We have researchers who come from all over the world, but we no longer have a connection with Roissy-Charles-de-Gaulle airport… This is not acceptable. »
2) City of Gastronomy: “There were 400,000 visitors in six months”
Inaugurated in May 2022, the International City of Gastronomy and Wine (CIGV) was invited in the questions of François Rebsamen’s Facebook Live. The mayor announced that “400,000 visitors” had passed through the doors of the facility in six months of activity. “It’s information that will silence those who spread bad things about CIGV,” declared François Rebsamen. “Some are politically opposed to the fact that it works. There were 400,000 visitors in six months. We had set ourselves the objective of 500,000 after one year. We will overcome it. Yes it works, yes there are foreigners and tourists, but also a lot of people from Dijon who go there. I go there regularly enough to see it. »
As a reminder, before the opening of the City of Gastronomy, the City had set itself a target of one million annual visitors, broken down as follows: 500,000 visitors for cultural facilities, and 500,000 visitors for movie theater.

3) Olympic Games: “The Olympic flame will come to Dijon”
“The 2024 Olympics is a great event,” said François Rebsamen. “Dijon is a land of games for the moment, the Olympic flame will come to Dijon and it will go circular in the streets of Dijon. I’m sure there will be a lot of people. And then on the sports project, on all the equipment to be a rear base for the countries which would be installed there, in certain disciplines, their teams. On a lot of contacts for the moment, it has not yet been formally validated but many countries are asking us, first because we have a body of water for example. We also have a history with sport, so we will be, for sure, a rear base. »
4) “There will be no increase in the property tax rate at the City of Dijon”
A resident noted that “the rental base of the 2023 property tax should increase by around 7%”. “Consequently, would it not be desirable for the City not to increase its rate, which is already one of the highest in France? he asked.
The mayor agreed that this rate was high in Dijon, “about 50%”. “Before, it was 28, 29%. But, because the laws have decided it, the land tax of the Department which was also very high – 21% – and that of the City have been added”, he then recalled. And to make a commitment: “There will be no increase in the property tax rate, as for seven years in the City of Dijon”.
5) “I don’t see why there would be a problem” around the Venice 2 project
At the end of June, the municipal council of Dijon voted for the sale of a tenement of approximately 10,000 m² located between Route d’Ahuy and Rue de Bruges, to allow the realization of the program baptized Venice 2. The operation, projected by the promoter Edouard Denis, envisages the construction of 48 houses and 37 apartments, along Suzon. Since the summer, the citizen collective “Save the banks of the Suzon” has been opposing it. “Are you going to ask the promoter to suspend the marketing of the program? “, he questioned.
” No why ? There is no reason. I looked at this project, it seems to me quite suitable for this neighborhood. I asked the promoter to do two studies: on the water where there is no particular problem, and another which said that it is not a wetland. These are small individual houses that will be built, there will be no R + 2, so I do not see why there would be a problem around this project which was adopted almost unanimously by the municipal council of Dijon (56 votes for, 3 abstentions. Democracy also means respecting the vote of elected officials, ”replied the mayor in particular. An argument that should not convince the collective, which plans to create an urban biodiversity reserve of Suzon (RUBS) this Sunday afternoon.
