Urban Trail Antwerp will pass through the renovated KMSKA and City Hall on Sunday with 8,000 runners | Antwerp
AntwerpThe ninth edition of the Liantis Urban Trail Antwerp will take place on Sunday 20 November. The participants walk right through historical or special buildings. Highlights this year are the catacombs of the recently reopened KMSKA and the newly renovated Clean Floor of the City Hall. It is expected that 8,000 sports enthusiasts will participate on Sunday.
Runners can choose a 7 or 12 km route. Start and finish are in the new Zuidpark on the Gedempte Zuiderdokken. Immediately after the start, the runners of the Play Zuid studio dive in for a set visit to De Tafel van Vier, Gert Verhulst’s talk show.
A little further on follows one of the highlights of the Liantis Urban Trail Antwerp 2022: the passage through the Royal Museum of Fine Arts Antwerp. The KMSKA closed in 2011 for a brief renovation and reopened its doors a few weeks ago. On Sunday, the participants first walk around the restored building and then walk through the catacombs and the stairs to the rear exhibition room.
The City Hall is another iconic building that has been under scaffolding for a long time. The participants of the 12 km on the way during the Liantis Urban Trail Antwerp, meanwhile, take a look at the renovated Schoon Verdiep. The famous police tower of the Oudaan, the monastery chapel of Campus Carolus of KU Leuven, the ballroom of hotel Hilton Antwerp Old Town and the historic Vlaaikensgang are also on the 12 km route. In total, the longest distance runners will run past and through 19 unique places, 8 of which are also on the 7 km course.
