Another option for local students: the Debrecen German Primary School has officially opened
The Debrecen German Primary School, which opened in September on Sinai Miklós Street, is an educational program in German from the first to the fourth grade, according to the curriculum and with native German-speaking teachers. German and Hungarian-speaking students are also welcome at the institution, and the children learn Hungarian language and literature according to the Hungarian curricula.
– Building, designing and starting a school is given to few. Whoever builds a school builds for the future. This is what the leaders of Debrecen and BMW thought when they approached us about the establishment of this institution – said Terézia Szauter, the general director of the Hungarian German General Education Center (MNÁMK) in Baja, at the official opening ceremony of the school in Debrecen on Tuesday. Miklós Egri, chairman of the board of trustees of the MNÁMK Institutional Maintenance and Operating Public Foundation, said that more than 1,200 children and young people attend the center’s member institutions in Hungary from kindergarten until the end of high school years.
– Debrecen’s education system is excellent, and parents and children have an extremely wide range of resources available. With the opening of the German Primary School in Debrecen, we have opened a new level, which provides additional opportunities – emphasized Deputy Mayor of Debrecen Lajos Barcsa at the ceremony. He pointed out that the German economy is strong in the city, as 45 companies currently employ around 5,300 people. – The economy never works alone, it is important that education and culture appear alongside it, which can make the relationship between the two nations even closer – he underlined.
The communications director of the BMW Group factory in Debrecen, dr. On behalf of the company giant, Réka Jenei expressed her joy at the fact that they are participating in the operation of the school. Regarding the construction of the production company’s factory in Debrecen, he said: construction is progressing at a good pace, according to plans, and recruitment will continue more intensively in the next period.
From September 2023, around 100 employees will start working in the education center in the framework of dual training
– he explained, at the same time praising the cooperation with the educational institutions in Debrecen.
