In Antwerp, the training is organized by VDAB, Horeca Forma, the City of Antwerp and Diageo. During nine weeks, ten students follow a course in which all aspects of the profession are discussed: from making cocktails to determining prices. In addition, more specific courses are included in the curriculum, such as ‘preventing sexual harassment’, ‘serving responsibly’ and ‘hospitality’.
“Well-trained bartenders are indispensable for our hospitality sector”, says Robin Vanderelst, director Horeca Forma. “The level of the training is high, we aim to deliver ten strong bartenders to the Antwerp catering establishments. Our students are an absolute asset in terms of product knowledge and technical skills, but also in terms of hospitality and storytelling.”
