Neighborhood connection in Amsterdam North
MBO students from various care and welfare programs do an internship in Amsterdam North from Huis van de Wijk Waterlandplein and the Breedhuis. Part of the phase is aimed at supporting the neighborhood in changing welfare and care support.
The Neighborhood Connection group in Noord currently consists of twelve enthusiastic and inquisitive students, ten of whom are following an intermediate vocational education and two a higher vocational education. The students started organizing activities for residents in September and also supported a number of residents through individual guidance.
The aim of the Neighborhood Connection Project is to answer non-indicated care and support questions from residents and organizations in the neighbourhood. An important part of the internship is for the students to provide support in the neighbourhood. For example, they provide support with shopping, they hold talks and organize a football tournament for children from the neighbourhood. There is no question of assignment at the start, the students make contact themselves to see what the requirements are.
