The Champions League match between FC Copenhagen and Borussia Dortmund was stopped after pitch storming – marking the Qatar boycott
(FC Copenhagen – Borussia Dortmund 1–1) One person stormed the pitch in Parken in the Danish capital with a clear and distinct message.
After about half an hour, a person entered the field and marked with the text “boycott Qatar”.
In his right hand he held a soccer ball, and both of them were covered in blood. It is just 18 days until the football World Cup kicks off in Qatar.
In 2010, Qatar was awarded the football World Cup in a controversial manner. For years, the Gulf state has received harsh criticism for a lack of human rights and poor treatment of guest workers.
The TV production ensured that the pitch stormer was not shown in line with UEFA guidelines, but still images by photographers present at the arena show people entering the pitch.
According to the Danish newspaper Ekstra Bladet, it was the group Extinction Rebellion who was behind the storming. They were also behind the storming of the field in the match against Manchester City in the previous home match on 11 October – also wearing the same t-shirt.
After just over a minute, the game was restarted with the score 1–0 to the away team Borussia Dortmund. Thorgan Hazard scored for the Germans.
Eight minutes later, 19-year-old Hákon Arnar Haraldsson scored the equalizer after being set up nicely by Viktor Claesson.
FC Copenhagen are already out of the Champions League and do not have the opportunity to go to the Europa League either, since the Spanish Sevilla have beaten them in a head-to-head match.
Manchester City are already group winners, while Dortmund will finish second. You can follow the matches in VG Live.
