The membership base of the Pirates in Prague 5 gave a green coalition with Prague to itself and the SEN 21 movement, which thus has a narrow majority of one vote in the municipal council. Voting ended only a few minutes ago. We will bring more information in the afternoon.
“The vote of the local forum Pirates Prague 5 confirmed the preferred composition of the coalition in Prague 5 in the variant Pirates + Prague 5 itself + SEN 21. The victorious Prague 5 itself won 10 mandates in the elections, the Pirates 6 mandates and SEN 21 won 5 mandates. Together, the coalition will have 21 votes out of 41 in the council – that is, a narrow majority of one vote,” the Pirates from Prague 5 confirmed on their official website. The fresh news was confirmed by PrahaIN.cz and the Pirates’ negotiator Štěpán Rattay without providing details.
Coalition agreement before the council
“A specific priority will include the coalition agreement, which we will finalize and sign during this week before the Constituent Assembly,” the Pirates state on the website.
“In accordance with the post-election strategies, we negotiated with all parties and took advantage of the program to create a close and stable coalition. The aversion of some parties to each other did not allow us to fully fulfill both conditions. Nevertheless, they appreciate the fair and factual dealings of the representatives of the other parties with us, as well as the effort to find an agreement acceptable to all parties involved. The parties of the previous coalition offered us mayors, while our voters, rather than supporting the former coalition, expected a change. I believe that the disadvantage just before the coalition majority of the chosen options will be compensated by the great agreement between the coalition partners,” says Milan Kryl, election leader.
Details in the early evening
Details of the program priorities of the new coalition and the composition of the council will be published in a joint statement of all coalition partners. According to information from PrahaIN.cz, this should be published today after the afternoon meeting of the three coalition partners.
Peace of mind for work
“I expect that the minimal possible majority of the council will be reflected in the so-called calmness at work. We consider it key for this period to keep ongoing investments going. Above all, it will be necessary to secure financing for them, which will certainly not be possible without the active participation of the capital. We will also emphasize transparent management of property, we will open the town hall more to people and we will promote the digitization of the office, which are also other long-term pirate priorities not only at the municipal level,” added Rattay.
The election of the new council will take place at the constitutive meeting of the council, which will be held on Tuesday, November 8, from 9 a.m. The meeting can be watched online on the website of the Municipal Council of Prague 5.
