Two world premieres at the 35th Auto Zurich
Ferdinand and a secret
Caterham and Sportec use Auto Zürich to present their innovations to the world public for the first time. Such world premieres are rather rare for the Zurich Auto Show. But this year everything is different and bigger.

The “Ferdinand” project by the Swiss tuning specialist Sportec from Höri ZH is celebrating its world premiere at Auto Zurich.
Tokyo, Paris or Detroit. These world metropolises have been chosen by automakers in the past to unveil their new models. So far, Geneva has also been one of them. But this year a new, hitherto unknown place is appearing on the international car stage: Zurich!
Two world premieres will be shown at the Auto Zürich from November 10th to 13th, 2022. The British small series manufacturer Caterham and the Swiss tuning specialist Sportec are showing their new products at the Zurich Exhibition Center for the first time ever in front of an audience. The Brits are still keeping a secret about their world premiere. It will be interesting to see what WILL come out of the small town of Dartford, a suburb of London on the south bank of the Thames.
What are the British planning?
Caterham is actually only known for the Seven, which originally sports car manufacturer Lotus builds. When he stopped production in 1972 due to money problems, the Lotus dealer from Caterham, Graham Nearn, acquired the rights and continued to produce the lightweight sports car under the Caterham name. Since then the seven Slightly revised again and again, the core remained the same. Attempts to start their own model series with the Caterham 21 failed.

The past therefore suggests that a new and revised version of the Seven will be on display in Hall 3 at Auto Zurich. Caterham has been owned by Japanese car dealer VT Holdings since March 2021. It remains to be seen whether he might even have completely new ideas.
The new car classic
This definitely has Sportec. The Swiss tuning specialist from Höri ZH is presenting the “Ferdinand” project in Hall 7. This is a separate classic series. Sportec takes the classic Porsche 964 (1989-1994) as a basis and transforms it into an exclusive one-off at the customer’s request. The entire vehicle is completely rebuilt, from the body shell to the interior to the high-revving boxer engine.
Especially in the interior, Sportec puts its stamp on the Ferdinand. Many controls and switches are proprietary developments. This includes, among other things, the charging station for the smartphone. There is also a modern multimedia system. The result: The Ferdinand is a classic car with a new car feeling. The first finished neo-classic celebrates its world premiere at the Auto Zurich.
Furthermore, the currently largest car show in Switzerland also offers seven European premieres. The most likely the new Koenigsegg CC850 be with V8 biturbo and innovative automatic transmission with manual switch function – without rockers. Honda, Hyundai and Mitsubishi will also show their models Bourgeois Type R, Ioniq 6 and ASX for the first time in Europe. The same applies to Dacia’s Bigster study and the facelifted Morgan Plus Four and Plus Six models.
