Tens of thousands of people demonstrated in Prague against fear. Zelenská also spoke
She delivered a video message in which she thanked the Czech Republic for its tireless support of Ukraine. According to her, Russia is fighting against a light that will never go out.
The police estimated the attendance at lower tens of thousands of people. In the same way, the police estimated the number of participants in Friday’s action against the government, i.e. lower tens of thousands of people. But the ČTK reporter pointed out that today there are many more people in the square than on Friday.
“We want people to take away hope, to take away the feeling that we can do it. That if we stick together, it’s much better than if we fight with each other,” Hana Strašáková, spokeswoman for Million Moments, told Novinky.
The demonstration is a reaction to actions organized by people who, according to the association, are concerned with inciting people’s fears and exploiting their fear for their own benefit.
Theater actor Jiří Suchý spoke to the people in a video broadcast. “Let’s try, that’s being brave,” he urged. He pointed out that the Czechia is worried that it will become poor and cold. People in Ukraine fear for their lives.
“It is time to show that we stand in solidarity with the attacked Ukraine. That we will not let the democratic values that we fought for more than thirty years ago be taken away. That we will not be intimidated,” said the organizers.
Below the podium is a poster comparing Russian President Vladimir Putin to Adolf Hitler.
The organizers refuse, for example, leaning towards Putin’s Russia in exchange for cheaper gas and declare their support for Ukraine, which has been defending itself since February with the support of other countries against Russian aggression.
So far, the last demonstration, at which several tens of thousands of people gathered, took place on Wenceslas Square on Friday as an anti-government protest demanding the resignation of the cabinet. Against this demonstration, the Sunday event is defined even in the speeches of the speakers.
Tens of thousands of people demonstrated against the government. We will take over this country, the organizer reported
