– Some of the sickest things I’ve experienced – VG
1 / 3
TRONDHEIM (VG) (Rosenborg-Bodø/Glimt 3–2) Not since 2015 have there been more spectators present at a Norwegian football league match.
Long before the start of the match, it became clear that the Lerkendal stadium was sold out before the silver match between Rosenborg and Bodø/Glimt. With the supporter groups Kjernen and Ultras in the lead, the spectators were treated to a crowd party long before the players contributed to the goal celebration, which only started in the 73rd minute.
– The atmosphere after the third goal is one of the sickest I have ever experienced. I have played in many full stadiums bigger than Lerkendal. I have wasted 20,000 on 16 May, and 18,000 last year against Vålerenga, but a sold-out Lerkendal is absolutely crazy, says match winner Carlo Holse.
– How would you rate the Lerkendal audience with what you have experienced out in Europe?
– I have played for a sold out Idrettsparken in Copenhagen, and I have played in Belgrade at the Røde Stjernes stadium (Stadion Rajko Mitić), which was sold out. But Lerkendal is number one, because it was absolutely fantastic.
Highest number of spectators in over seven years
Not since the May 16 match between Rosenborg and Sandefjord in 2015 have there been so many spectators at a Norwegian football league match. That 21,275 spectators provided a party in the stands, got both players and coaches with them.
RBK’s Edvard Tagseth will never forget the evening.
– It’s a fantastic setting. It was also a fantastic match in Molde last week. When we get such a framework and full stadiums, I think we are competitive also compared to stadiums outside Europe, says Bodø/Glimt coach Kjetil Knutsen, who has experienced a bit of everything on the continent in recent seasons.

TRONDHEIM (VG) (Rosenborg-Bodø/Glimt 3–2) Over 21,000 spectators got to see Rosenborg and Bodø/Glimt provide great…
– The best frame I have experienced
Rosenborg coach Kjetil Rekdal was overjoyed after Holse’s match-winning score three minutes before the end. Then it rippled in the stands under the weight of over twenty thousand excited people from Trondheim, and a thousand northerners.
– That’s football like that shall be. It must be feelings in all directions. It’s dramatic, and then it’s fun to be at a football match. It scores five goals, and fortunately enough for us to win, says Rekdal.
Glimt captain Patrick Berg, who grew up watching dad Ørjan play with some of Europe’s best clubs, believes the framework around the “silver medal” is good advertising for Norwegian football.
– Completely perfect. It is without a doubt the best setting I have ever experienced in Norway. It is great for us players that Lerkendal is full, and with a completely full away section. That’s how we want it, and it’s great that so many made the trip from the north as well, says Berg to VG.
Rosenborg also holds the attendance record in Norwegian league football. In 1985, it was registered 28,569 within the doors of Lillestrøm came to visit.
