PINK OCTOBER: Parade of stylized models in Talant
This Saturday, October 29, the City of Talant organized “Tatoo rose”, an action intended to raise funds for Carpe Diem 21, an association which aims to “improve the physical and moral condition of people affected by cancer”.
The Tatoo rose fashion show took place this Saturday, October 29, 2022 at Espace Georges Brassens in Talant. As part of Pink October, it was an operation to raise awareness of personal reconstruction following breast removal and fundraising for the Carpe Diem 21 association, which supports people affected by cancer. .
In a room decorated and lit by the services of the municipality, about sixty people followed the parade of plastic mannequins stylized by Talantaises.
“Reinventing a femininity”
“The objective is to support – including in terms of financial approach – the reappropriation and animation that go to these women affected by the ablation of ablation”, recalled Fabian Ruinet, mayor of Talant, during the launch of the evening hosted by Laurent Arnaud, cultural assistant.
“It is common today that some women choose after breast cancer to turn to tattooing rather than breast reconstruction”, then indicated Sylvie Castella’s first assistant to explain the action of the day. “It’s a way for them to close a painful chapter, to reclaim their body and, often, to reinvent their femininity.”
“Breast cancer detected early is cured in 90% of cases”
“Taking the side of talking about a serious subject in such a pretty way to dispose each of us to act”, declared Sylvie Castella before stressing the importance of screening every two years between 50 and 74 years old.
According to the National Cancer Institute (INCa), “80% of breast cancers canceled after the age of 50. It is from this age that repeated screening on a regular basis is most effective in order to increase the chances of recovery in the event of illness. Detected early, breast cancer is cured in 90% of cases” (read the INCa article).
Tattooed and costumed models
Costume designer for the Dijon Opera as well as theater companies, Julie Lardrot supervised five three-hour workshops to arrive at the Tatoo rose fashion show. Nine Talantaises participated: Éliane, Frédérique, Jacqueline, Françoise, Annie, Dolorès, Latifa as well as Dean Suzette and her 93 years old.
The participants successively presented their stylized model: the deformed bust but adorned with posca tattoos and the body dressed in a costume.
Around them twirled four young dancers coached by Aude Morandet: Marion, Lola, Chloé and Laura.
“Improving the physical and moral condition of people affected by cancer”
Created in 2011 by an oncologist from Dijon, the Carpe Diem 21 association is now run by Christine Ragueneau and has around 70 members, including a core of around twenty people. The annual budget is 20,000 euros, financed mainly by contributions (18%), subsidies (30%) and above all donations (52%).
“The aim of the association is to improve the physical and moral condition of people affected by cancer”, explained the president because “physical activity reduces the risk of recurrence, particularly in the context of breast cancer and of the settler”.
The association therefore accompanies members during a transition phase between care and the resumption of professional activity.
Membership is 60 euros for one year and provides self-service access to up to eleven hours per week of physical or self-expression activities, not forgetting cultural outings.
Physical activities include walking, running, adapted gymnastics, aquagym, modern jazz or muscle strengthening supervised by STAPS students from the University of Burgundy. Expression covers the plastic arts, writing and choral singing.
Receive a model in exchange for a donation
At the end of the parade, the mayor Fabian Ruinet and the departmental councilor Céline Viallet went to congratulate the stylists while Laurent Arnaud recalled that the models presented could be the counterpart of a donation made to Carpe Diem 21.
The Tatoo rose parade came to close the cycle of actions organized by the City of Talant: musical entertainment, a tondo painting workshop at the municipal library, an intervention to provide prevention advice, an intergenerational walk with pushchairs or even a stand of the Côte-d’Or Cancer League.
The stylized models are now on display in the lobby of the Espace Georges Brassens until November 10th.
