Hunting season in the zoo: facility opens later from November 7th
There are too many: From November 7th, the forestry office will reduce the stock in the zoo by 80 animals by mid-December.

Hanover. The city will shorten the opening hours in the Tiergarten from Monday, November 7th. Until mid-December, the facility will only be open to visitors from Monday to Wednesday from 12 p.m. On Thursdays, Fridays and weekends, however, the zoo remains open as usual from 7 a.m. until nightfall.

The reason for the temporary change in opening hours: the city has to reduce the number of wild animals in the zoo by around 80 animals this year – in order to continue to ensure species-appropriate husbandry. The hunting season in the Tiergarten therefore started at the beginning of November. According to the city, the forestry office has to kill around 50 fallow deer and another 30 red, wild boar and roe deer.

Venison sale from November 10th at the forest depot
Every Thursday on November 10th, 17th, 24th and December 1st, the Tiergarten will once again be offering venison for sale in portions of one to five kilos. While stocks last, the goods are available at the forest depot, Tiergartenstrasse 149. Sales begin at 4 p.m. each day. Prices paid this year for those who want to buy venison: Saddle with filet 24 euros per kilogram; back 16 euros/kg; leg 17 euros/kg; leaf/shoulder 9 euros/kg; neck/straps 6 euros/kg; goulash 16 euros/kg; ribs 4 euros/kg; Soup meat 4 euros/kg.
