Börse Express – notification November 2nd
Press statement at 12:00 p.m.: PRO-GE and GPA trade unions provide information about the impending labor dispute
Collective bargaining for the 200,000 rose in the metals industry will enter a crucial phase next week. The fourth round of negotiations with the industry’s largest employers’ association, the Fachverband Metalltechnische Industrie (FMTI), will take place on Thursday. The day before, on November 2nd, works councils and youth councils from all over Austria will gather at the event center (VAZ) in St. Pölten for a conference to find out about the current status of negotiations. Up to 2,000 participants are expected.
From November 7th, warning strikes are threatened throughout the metal industry if no wage and salary agreement has been reached with the FMTI by then. The final votes for this union action measure will be reached at Tuesday’s conference. The ÖGB board has issued the go-ahead for the death of the entire metal industry. Union members are therefore entitled to support in the event of a strike.
Press statement from the chief negotiator
The two chief negotiators on the employees’ side, Rainer Wimmer (PRO-GE) and Karl Dürtscher (GPA), are available before the start of the conference (12:00 p.m.) to make a press statement for media questions. At the beginning of the conference (at around 12.30 p.m.) there is also the opportunity for video and photo recordings in the event hall.
