This emerges from the IV Future Monitor 2022, which is being collected by the Federation of Industry together with the Institute for Empirical Social Research (IFES).
However, almost two thirds of the majority believe that Austria is moving in the wrong direction. “State institutions such as the judiciary and Austria’s companies ensure stability and have gained trust in the past year, politics has lost a lot of it,” comments IFES Managing Director Reinhard Raml on the results of the IV Future Monitor in a broadcast.
With 71 percent, the majority of natural people agrees that entrepreneurs create jobs. And according to the IV Future Monitor, 68 percent are in favor of more funding for research, development and innovation as the basis for new technologies and products. According to the information, 56 percent see industry as the engine of the overall domestic economy.
On the other hand, there is no clear trend when assessing the framework conditions for business start-ups: 29 percent consider the economic and political climate to be favorable and 25 percent unfavorable. 43 percent consider pursuing a career as an entrepreneur to be unattractive. Only 24 percent rated this positively and a third of them did not make a decision on this question. At 34 percent, the generation under 30 is more likely to get something out of entrepreneurship – but 32 percent consider this unattractive.
And 62 percent of believers do not believe their jobs could be done by machines in the future. The reaction to the question of how digitization WILL manifest itself in the next few years, above all with uncertainty. The influence on family life is not foreseeable for almost every second person, around a quarter expect positive, 15 percent negative. With 55 percent, more than half do not dare to make an assessment with regard to free time either. 30 percent see beneficial developments, 15 percent negative ones.
The influence of digitization on the world of work is presented positively. The proportion of neutral or uncertain attitudes is less than 50 percent.
