L‘Hotel Beethoven Vienna, is located just a stone’s throw from the Secession and Modernism sites and the most important museums. Former brothel has been transformed by its owner Barbara Ludovicoin a design hotel, where each room tells a different story, where every detail is the mirror of a fragment of the city’s history.

It’s hard not to get excited. Vienna, once the capital of the Habsburg Empire, has a very rich artistic tradition. At the Kunsthistorisches Museum, the Albertina, the Leopold Museum and other large and prestigious museums you can admire masterpieces created over the centuries. The Belvedere is preparing to celebrate a great anniversary in 2023: the tricentenary of its construction. Starting from December 2022, an incredible series of events will follow one another. In December the review “Il Belvedere. For three centuries a place of art ”, set up at the Orangerie (continues for the whole of 2023), which tells its story, marked by power and representation, great court parties and special events in history. An extraordinary exhibition, postponed due to the pandemic, will open at the beginning of February 2023: “Klimt. Inspired by Van Gogh, Rodin, Matisse… ”. The exhibition features numerous works, totaling around 90 works by Klimt and other artists.
Inside the music. It has recently inaugurated the engaging virtual and interactive world Myth Mozartwhich is located exactly in the place where Mozart composed “The Magic Flute” and the “Requiem” and where he died in 1791. The 60-minute tour begins in a room that has something sacred with 1,500 candles and projections of shadows and sounds and opens to an interactive, immersive and exciting journey to discover the creativity of the great master.
Art and design. From 18 to 25 November 2022 the Vienna Art Week transforms Vienna into a place loved by art lovers and experts from all over the world for a week and offers a series of events including reviews, round tables, presentations, meetings with artists, guided tours, installations and performances. Each year it takes place in a different one, this year it is the turn of the VI, that of Mariahilfwith signature architecture Joseph Maria Olbrich, Otto Wagner, Josef Hoffmann and a step away from the Naschmarkt and the Mariahilfer Straße.
Lights on Christmas. From mid-November 2022 and until 6 January 2023 the most beautiful squares in Vienna offer a special experience with beautiful Christmas markets, Christkindlmärkte, an ancient tradition that is renewed every year. The best known and also the largest is the Viennese market of the Infant Jesus, in Rathausplatz square with over 100 kiosks, a park lit up with the path of the cribs and the large skating rink. Imperial charm can be felt in the Christmas markets in front of the Schönbrunn Palace and the Belvedere Palace.
The Christmas market at the Schönbrunn Palace offers traditional handicrafts, handmade Christmas decorations, Christmas concerts and an extensive children’s program, including a Christmas workshop. The Christmas village at the Belvedere Palace it is set up in the large park and is immersed in a suggestive Baroque setting; there you can buy artistic handicrafts and savor culinary delights. The Market of‘Advent at the Palazzo in Villa Liechtenstein this year is in its second edition and is perfect for all those who prefer a relaxed atmosphere.

Schönbrunn
In the footsteps of Sissi. The new Netflix series also recently celebrated it The Empress, on screens from 29 September. In Vienna in many places you can find his charm: al Imperial Carriage Museum (Wagenburg), at the Schönbrunn Palace, you can admire the carriage used for the wedding, the sumptuous golden carriage of the imperial couple’s coronation as King and Queen of Hungary, the carriages of the children, the one before his assassination in Geneva, and the imperial hearse. Still at the Wagenburg, you can admire one of her personal saddles and one of her sumptuous court dresses, out of the Viennese tailor’s Fanny Scheiner, black in color and with a long train. Two “musts” for those who want to get closer to the character of Sissi are a visit to the museum dedicated to her inside the Hofburg, the imperial palace in the center of Vienna, and at the castle Schönbrunn, the summer residence of the Habsburgs, the setting for her role as Empress. An itinerary in Vienna in the footsteps of Sissi would not be complete without a visit to the Möbelmuseum, the Furniture Museum, where you can retrace the “behind the scenes” history of Ernst Marischka’s films starring Romy Schneider. The Möbelmuseum retains many furnishings that once belonged to the Habsburgs. In fact, many original pieces of furniture were used for the shooting of the films, which in the museum have been arranged with the same settings as the films.
