Illness of the commander on the Vienna-New York flight: emergency landing
Misadventure yesterday afternoon for the passengers of a flight from Vienna (Austria) to New York JFK, NY (USA), departed from the Austrian city around 16:30. After take-off, during the climb, the pilot fell ill and the crew was forced to turn back by making an emergency landing on runway 34 about 40 minutes after departure. Fortunately, this operation took place without any damage to passengers. The firefighters then intervened on the spot to check that the situation of the vehicle and passengers had returned to normal. The airline confirmed that the plane returned to Vienna due to a medical problem involving a crew member. According to the information received by the Aviation Herald, notes Giovanni D’Agata, president of the “Rights Desk”, the crew member was the first officer. Serious inconvenience therefore for passengers, waiting to leave for the US airport of New York JFK. As for the health condition of the commander, it is known only that he was transported to the hospital for examination.
