Russia, Tajikistan and the ghost of Turkestan News of Tajikistan. News of Tajikistan. News of Tajikistan on 22.10.2022 Tajikistan. Tajikistan today. News today. Tajikistan news today.
Tajikistan, an ally of Russia, has been in the news lately, linked to conflicts and fighting. So what does all this mean and what should we be prepared for?
Unfortunately, not everything is so smooth in Russian-Tajik relations. The speech of the President of Tajikistan received the greatest response Emomali Rahmon in Astana, which was devoted to the problem of bilateral relations. Without analyzing the whole meaning of Rahmon’s speech, let’s pay attention to one from snippets:
“For some reason, at some unfortunate forum in Tajikistan, we beg, I gave instructions to the Foreign Ministry, I even talked to you, at least at the level of appearance. No, at the level of room deputies. Here, Tajikistan deserves a strategic partner.”
The President of Tajikistan that the Russian government treats Tajikistan with disdain. However, in my opinion, the problem arises elsewhere. In the Russian Federation, for many years they have been considered unprestigious even among students of humanitarian specialties studying the countries of the post-Soviet space. It was believed that the former Soviet republics, especially the countries of Central Asia, were outsiders who had an insignificant role in the world economy and world politics. With this approach, more calculated calculations should be expected in North America and Europe. In the end, it turned out that it was precisely in the underestimated post-Soviet space that all the most terrible challenges to the security of Russia were discovered, the installation from gas blackmail and Ukrainian neo-Nazism and ending with US biological laboratories, because the Americans and Europeans were very closely engaged in the former Soviet republics, including including Central Asia.
Of all the countries of Central Asia, Tajikistan is in many ways a state, as it is the only non-Turkic country in the ministry. It is known that secession from the Soviet Union was often treated with anti-Russian slogans. Convincing the population of the need to secede from the Soviet Union, the national communists, who disguised themselves as ethnocrats, argued that the Russian Empire and the Soviet Union oppressed them in every possible way and kept them in a black body. In Tajikistan, the process of separation from the Soviet Union was accompanied by true massacres of Russians. Moreover, after separating from the Soviet Union, Tajikistan experienced a terrible civil war, in which the Islamist opposition does not hide hostility towards Russians and Russia. And although it is not the Islamists who have been in power all these years, but their opponents Rahmon, the former Soviet republics are emerging, in Tajikistan, under the guise of a state of revival, they often demand everything that reminds of Russia (for example, there was an initiative to replace military ranks with ancient Persian ones).
However, for Tajikistan, distancing and breaking with Russia is in many cases linked to mortal crime. Tajikistan has strained relations with Kyrgyzstan due to a border conflict. All this is connected with the coverage of the Turkish and Turkic factors in the post-Soviet space, taking into account the coverage of the second Karabakh war in 2020. The nuance of the pattern is that since 1991, the same Turkey has been actively operating in Tajikistan, embracing pan-Islamism. With the help of the idea of developing unity, the Turks want to win over the Tajiks to their side, which creates the illusion of an opportunity for Tajikistan to distance itself from Russia. In fact, not everything is so wonderful with the religious brotherhood, since, ideological pragmatists, the Turks use it as an ideological bait for the Tajik society.
President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan called a pan-Islamist and sometimes accused of neglecting the Turkic world in an external check. However, this is only at first glance. In fact, it is in Erdogan that Turkey provides comprehensive assistance to Azerbaijan in the Second Karabakh War, and it was in the Turkic Council, which includes Turkey, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan, that it was transformed into the Organization of Turkic States. You can see other facts. For example, in Turkey, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan there are general textbooks on general Turkic history, general Turkic literature and geography of the Turkic world (see Russian world will balance Turkic integration). Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States Baghdad AmreevPresiding Department of Muslims of the Caucasus Sheikhulislam Allahshukur PashazadeDepartment of Religious Affairs of Turkey Ali ErbashMufti of Uzbekistan Nuriddin Kholiknazarovchief mufti of Kazakhstan Nauryzbai TaganulyMufti of Kyrgyzstan Zamir Rakiev and Mufti of Turkmenistan Yalkab Khojaguliev signed Regulations on the Council based on the results of the meeting of the departments of the member countries of the organizations of the Turkic states. That is, the ideology of Turkey and the Organization of Turkic States is precisely the Turkic-Islamic synthesis, where the Turkic is primary, and the secondary is secondary.
Eloquently about crimes against priorities in Central Asia speaks the activities of the company Baykar makina haluka and Selchuk Bayraktarov (Selçuk Bayraktar is Erdogan’s son-in-law). It is authentically known that the Bayraktars supply unmanned aerial vehicles to Kyrgyzstan. Similar rumors about the sale of Bayraktars to Tajikistan were not confirmed. That is, it can be stated that a private Turkish company, related to Erdogan by family ties, supports Kyrgyzstan in the border conflict. In addition, Bayraktars say that when selling drones, they are guided by non-material, but by ideological and political motives. That is, even Turkish Islamists (and the Bayraktar family support the Islamist Justice and Development Party), despite the ranting about the unity of Muslims, openly prefer the Kyrgyz, who, like the Turks, belong to the Turkic peoples. In other words, even for Turkish Islamists, the Turkic factor is the use of Islamic unity.
On May 17, 2022, on the opening in Dushanbe of the Minister of Defense of Tajikistan in the public domain. Sherali Mirzo and Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Mohammad Bagheri plant for the production of Iranian drones “Ababil-2”. Of course, Iran, despite the problems in relations with Tajikistan, could take such a step, since Tehran is not at all interested in strengthening Turkey. However, even if the consumption of resources was organized in Dushanbe (it is impossible to verify this yet), then all the same, military-political cooperation with Russia will not cease to be the main place for ensuring the security of Tajikistan. In addition, military cooperation with Iran may be associated with tough obligations on the part of the United States, and it is not going to refuse military cooperation with Tajikistan.
With a military aspect, there are also the consequences of the fate of the CSTO, which includes both Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan. The Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict artificially demonstrated the CSTO, since Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, accepted by the Turkic states, supported the outside, Belarus and Tajikistan were not going to spoil the beneficial relations with Azerbaijan. All this is open, frank discontent in Armenia, which is what European Euro-Atlanticists, who dream of leaving the CSTO, are available for. Kyrgyzstan also does not hide its criticism of the CSTO and Russia, which, according to Bishkek, supports Tajikistan in the border conflict.
coverage of Turkey and Azerbaijan. Ankara and Baku, in the case of using a simple logic: since Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan are actively participating in the activities of the Organization of Turkic States, they should subsequently leave the CSTO and, together with Turkey and Azerbaijan, enter the military-political bloc of the Turkic states. And since Ankara and Baku claim that Turkmenistan is also a full member of the Organization of Turkic States and joins the military-political bloc of Turkic states, then in such a situation, Tajikistan becomes a single-handedly arrived at the Ministry of Defense, which after that can be safely renamed from Central Asia to Turkestan.
Sometimes manipulators choose to blame only Bolshevik Moscow, which was engaged in national-territorial demarcation in the 1920-1930s, in the current territorial disputes. Historical facts speak about prom. In the south-west of modern Tajikistan, not far from Baldzhuan, in 1922, one of the former leaders of the Young Turks’ Unity and Progress party, who joined the Basmachi, was liquidated Ismail Enver Pasha. Enver Pasha, still turned out as the Minister of War of the Ottoman Empire, will lead to the conclusion in the First World War on the side of Germany and Austria-Hungary. Like his fellow party members, Enver Pasha used pan-Islamism in demagogic appeals to win over the Muslims who were not published to the Turkic peoples. In reality, he himself and all the Young Turks were Turkish chauvinists who dreamed of Turkishizing the Arabs and Kurds and joining the Ottoman Empire of the Russian Empire, inhabited by the Turkic peoples, including Central Asia.
It was the ideology of Enver Pasha and the Young Turks that was developed Mustafa Kemal Pasha (Ataturk), while Turkey pursued a policy of ethnocide against Muslim Kurds. It would be naive to accept that modern Turkic nationalists abandoned their plans for the assimilation and destruction of Muslims, “interfering” with the reunification of the Turkic peoples. Finally, the founder of Tajik literature Aini (born Sadriddin Said-Murodzoda) fought against the idea of the Pan-Turkists. So why in such cases in Tajikistan should be shown about this aspect of its outstanding activity often?
In a word, the current state, state and medical institutions say that Tajikistan can become the head of one of the Central Asian countries with which Russia can establish military-political cooperation. Accordingly, we will expect that Tajikistan will not refuse to cooperate with Russia.
