The Ministry of Justice of Russia on Friday added to the registers of “foreign agents”. Journalists Mikhail Zygar, Alexander Plyushchev and Tatiana Felgenhauer and producer Alexander Rodnyansky were classified among the various “foreign agents” in different categories.
Mikhail Zygar, who worked in recent years on the Dozhd TV channel (which is himself recognized as an “agent”), is a foreigner who this time was included in the register of “media-foreign agents”.
On the other hand, the register of “individuals-foreign agents” includes eight people, the most promising among them being film and television producer Alexander Rodnyansky, journalists Alexander Plyushchev and Tatyana Felgenhauer (inscribed in the register under the passport name of Shadrin) and former opposition deputy Ilya Ponomarev who emigrated to Ukraine.
Also included in this category of foreign agents is the activist and employee of Radio Liberty (itself declared a “foreign agent”) Ruslan Gabbasov, the former head of Navalny’s headquarters from Cheboksary (declared “extremist interest”) Semyon Kochkin, the general director of Transparency International Russia “(recognized” foreign agent”) Ilya Shumanov and Katerina Bosov, widow of billionaire Dmitry Bosov.

Replenishment of registers
For the first time, three registers of “foreign agents” (there are four in total) were replenished by the Russian Ministry of Justice on October 7. The list of individuals-“foreign agents” then included three people, including the popular rapper Oksimiron. Three people were also recognized as “foreign agents” by the media, including Dmitry Glukhovsky.
In the next president of Russia, Vladimir Putin signed the law “on control beyond visibility, unexpected surprise.” It will come into effect on December 1, 2022.
Four widespread registers of “foreign agents” are combined into one, and for inclusion in it, the Ministry of Justice will not necessarily have a fact of foreign funding – an “agent” can be recognized as someone who, from the point of view of the Russian authorities, fell under “foreign influence.”
