“Americans always want to make sure that Russia is involved in something.” Gerboldt on the “Valiyeva Case”
Former Russian figure skater Katharina Gerboldt told Match TV that there is nothing new in the statement of the head of the US Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) Travis Tygart, the Americans always want to make sure that Russia is involved in something bad.
On Friday, the Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA) informed that it did not intend to announce the hearings, decision or other details in the case of figure skater Kamila Valieva. Tygart later criticized RUSADA for the decision not to disclose confidential information.
– I think that since the girl is a minor, it will be possible to choose for herself how this (the announcement of RUSADA’s decision) will be successful. It doesn’t really matter,” Gerboldt told Match TV.
– I’m not sure that in a couple of years Valieva and other skaters will become contenders for the world title?
– I want to believe that they will perform, but no one knows today.
— USADA criticizes RUSADA and WADA. What does it say?
– Americans always want to make sure that Russia and Russian athletes are involved in something, pollute (their names) as much as possible. There is nothing new here.
– RUSADA will make an honest decision?
– Of course. This is their job and task, and they are interested in figuring it out to the end.
– No one from the Russian side will intentionally hide data?
– I don’t think. I don’t even entertain such thoughts.
At the Winter Olympics in Beijing, Valieva took part in team competitions, where the ROC team won a gold medal. The day after reaching the “commander” program, it became known that the illegal drug trimetazidine was found in the doping test of the figure skater taken at the Russian Championships in December 2021. On September 14, RUSADA announced that the investigation into the case of the 16-year-old athlete had been completed.
