Polyansky: Russia got ‘very little’ from ‘grain closure’
The call not to be emotionally optimistic on the issue of extending the “grain deal” was Dmitry Polyansky, First Deputy Permanent Representative of Russia to the UN, noting that the extension of the agreement depends on the benefits of the Russian Federation. According to the statement, the Russian side has received it from “very little” at the moment, and the terms of the agreement promised to Russia are not being fulfilled.
“I would not be very optimistic about promotion, because we are looking at practical results … We want our part to take place in the same way as the Ukrainian one,” Mr. Polyansky told reporters (quoted by RIA Novosti). He clarified that the Russian side is not implementing the agreements related to the export of food and fertilizers from Russia.
Earlier, the extension of the “grain deal”, signed under the Protocol of Russia, Ukraine, Turkey and the UN in Istanbul on July 22 this year, was allowed by representatives of the Russian Defense Ministry and the UN. On the significance in assessing the nature of the extension with the participation of UN representatives, they assessed the outcome of the negotiations as constructive and positive.
