This was the biggest bitcoin event in Europe
It’s over: the Bitcoin Amsterdam 2022 conference last week on October 12, 13 and 14 brought the largest bitcoin event to European soil. All in all, it was a great success and in this article we look back at the unique event that wrote bitcoin history in the Netherlands.
Bitcoin Amsterdam 2022
Prominent speakers from all over the world traveled to the Westergasfabriek in Amsterdam to speak about everything related to the king of cryptocurrencies has to do with. Thousands of visitors fully deploy the sign for three days from bitcoin (BTC).
A number of key topics were discussed by the highly regarded speakers during the conference. For example, the current macroeconomic situation, what awaits bitcoin and, of course, the future that looks very rosy to all was discussed.
Bitcoin as ‘protection against’
One of the first topics to be organized during the event Including hedge fund manager Greg Foss and former MEP Nigel Farage expressed himself on this subject. Even Prince Philip of Serbia attended Bitcoin Amsterdam to talk about the ten roles of bitcoin in his country drawn up to end bitcoin.
“In the meantime, two out of three years, there will be a big change and it will be a coming exchange. And now when I look at banking transactions, they are inefficient, expensive and often quite slow. So Bitcoin is becoming more and more attractive,” said Nigel Farage.
The Bitcoin Lightning Network
Unique during the Bitcoin Amsterdam event was the fact that visitors were allowed to pay in the form of bitcoin. for this purpose was used the revolutionary ‘Lightning Network‘. This is a low-2 scaling solution that is built on top of the Bitcoin network with the transaction capacity of the network is significantly improved.
In three days, Bitcoin Amsterdam processed no less than Lightning Network transactions at an average value of $8.

What makes this achievement extra fun is the fact that on the first day the normal payment system died at the event. Visitors to Bitcoin Amsterdam were, ironically, temporarily abandoned by this traditional system and were actually even forced to take refuge in Bitcoin to once again illustrate the importance of Bitcoin.
Energy crisis in Europe and Bitcoin
It will be a plan to go that energy is a point in the political discourse right now. Energy prices have skyrocketed over the past few months, and this is also affecting the Bitcoin network.
It was therefore almost inevitable that this topic was also discussed at Bitcoin Amsterdam. Some mining executives and others market leaders know how the network will survive the energy crisis and how it may even contribute to combating climate change.
“Really, the only affordable sources of energy for mining in Europe are in locations where the energy is stranded. When you transport energy, you have losses in the grid, but you also have sufficient capacity in the distribution network,” said Andly Long, CEO of a large miningcompany, about the commerce that Bitcoin stands for.
Until next time!
All in all, the first edition of the Bitcoin Amsterdam conference was an amazing success. In general, there was a clear optimism among both the speakers and visitors. People are feeling the pain of the current state of the economy, but with Bitcoin in mind, the future doesn’t look so bad.
The organization certainly plans to come back to Amsterdam and there is even hope that in the long run Amsterdam will become the Bitcoin capital of the year with more than 150,000 visitors.
