The rioters of the Debrecen-Paks match were severely punished
The fans received suspended prison terms and fines.
Debrecen said goodbye to the NB I two years ago in scandalous circumstances, as in the final match against Paks, after the match had been played, the fans stormed onto the field and demanded the football players themselves. For this reason, the Debrecen Magistrate’s Court initiated proceedings, which then in April 2022 brought charges for disorderly conduct, suspended prison sentences for three fans, while the others proposed the imposition of fines, writes Sportal.
At the trial held in the spring, 42 fans were fined, while in the case of three drunkards, the prosecution proposed holding another trial. This was held on October 19, about which, according to the press spokesperson of the district court, the defendants made a confession, waiving their right to a trial, so two fans received a ten-month prison sentence, another suspended for a year’s probation, another seven-month prison sentence suspended for a year’s probation, while the fourth concerned received a fine of HUF 200,000. all of them were banned from sports events organized by MLSZ for one year.
The verdict is not legally binding at the moment, despite the fact that the prosecutor took note of the decision, but the defendants and the defense requested three working days to think about it.
