Moldova could receive gas from Azerbaijan from the imports made by Romania
The state company Romgaz, the largest producer of natural gas in Romania, signed with the state oil giant of Azerbaijan, SOCAR, a memorandum regarding a joint investment in a liquefied natural gas terminal on the Black Sea.
The implementation of the project will allow the corridors to bring gas from the Caspian Sea basin to Europe to be diversified and supplemented, according to the statement of Romanian Prime Minister Nicolae Ciucă, after signing the memorandum. The Head of the Government from Bucharest added that he also discussed with the Azerbaijani side about possible gas imports through pipelines, including for the Republic of Moldova, transmits Profit.ro.
Nicolae Ciucă also said that solutions are being sought for bringing gas from the Caspian Sea, through the trans-Anatolian conduit Turkey-Bulgaria-Romania, and from Romania to the other beneficiary countries, one of them being the Republic of Moldova.
“It is our commitment from Azerbaijan, to be able to support the Republic of Moldova with the necessary amount of gas”, said Nicolae Ciucă.
“In the current energy context, the initiative of the two companies to ensure a new opportunity for the market in Romania and those in the region to access natural gas resources in the Caspian Sea area, with a significant positive impact on the energy security of the states of Central Europe and South-East”, Romgaz later sent in a press release.
