Good news for new tenants: the average square meter decreased in the third quarter of this year compared to the previous quarter. This includes that new residents may spend less on rent and have more money left over for fun things in Amsterdam. Always nice!
Rental prices in Amsterdam
New Amsterdam tenants paid an average of 21.93 euros per square meter in the third quarter of this year. Small calculation: the rent of a two-bedroom house of 80 square meters therefore costs an average of 1755 euros per month. In the second quarter of this year, the square meter price was lower, at 20.75 euros.
The rest of the Netherlands
Nationally, the price still rose in the past quarter, just like in Amsterdam, but less rapidly than before. Pararius director Jasper de Groot explains: “In the third quarter of 2018, new tenants in the Netherlands paid an average of 16.04 euros per square meter. That is almost three and a half euros more than four years earlier. In the third quarter of 2022, the square meter price will be ‘only’ 0.86 euro cents higher than four years earlier.”
About the research
These prices have been investigated by housing platform Pararius. This housing platform analyzes the rental prices of homes in Amsterdam and the rest of the country every quarter. This only concerns the free sector.
