Ukraine and Russia have proposed the exchange of prisoners of war in the format “20 to 20”
Ukraine and Russia are conducting a regular exchange of prisoners of war, the release of 20 Ukrainian and 20 medical observations, according to reports on the defense of the countries.
In the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine announced, that among the Ukrainians released from captivity there are 14 military personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, four from the territorial defense and one each from the Naval Forces and the National Guard of Ukraine. The oldest prisoner of war is 49 years old, the youngest is 19 years old, among the released are soldiers, sergeants and one officer.
“The released defenders are pursuing the patrol, in particular, in the ZNPP patrol battalion, 808 pontoon-bridge regiment, 503 separate marine battalion, 56 separate motorized infantry brigade, 24, 53, 65 and 92 especially mechanized brigades, 46 separate air assault brigade, in Troops Troops”, – specified in the Ukrainian department.
Information about the exchange of prisoners confirmed in the Russian Ministry of Defense. The department clarified that all released servicemen require psychological and medical assistance. “Currently, they will be delivered to medical institutions of the Russian Ministry of Defense for treatment and recovery,” the ministry’s press service said.
On October 11, during the regular plenary session between Russia and Ukraine, home returned 32 servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He was detained in April 2022, after escaping due to alcohol abuse, where he suffers from an illness in treason. Ukrainian authorities said they could exchange him for captured Ukrainian servicemen. Press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov said that there was no talk of an exchange of Medvedchuk, since he is a citizen of Ukraine.
