The Russian government is launching a program to evacuate part of the inhabitants of the Kherson region of Ukraine, annexed at the beginning, after the ejections of the occupying authorities and reports of the ongoing counter-offensive of the Ukrainian army.
The press service of Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin announced the decision. It refers to “organization of assistance for the departure of residents of the region to other regions of the country.”
Partially occupied Kherson, Zaporozhye, Donetsk and Lugansk regions of Ukraine were annexed by Russia in early October. President Vladimir Putin signed their accession treaties on September 30, after the Russian parliament passed constitutional laws to include them in the country.
The armed forces of Ukraine in early September began active resistance in the Kharkiv region, which was also partially occupied by Russia. The next goal of the Ukrainian authorities was the de-occupation of the Kherson region and other seizures of the regions.
Since August, in the Kherson region, the Ukrainian side, according to its own assessment, has recaptured more than 1,170 square kilometers. On Thursday in the morning review, British intelligence claimedthat Ukrainian troops are advancing towards Kherson. Having retreated about 20 km in early October, Russian troops will probably reconsider a new front line west of the village of Mylovoe, soon in the summary.
Heavy fighting continues along this line, especially in the west, where the Russian flank is no longer protected by the Ingulets River, according to British military intelligence. According to her, most of the Russian troops in this area are understaffed units of the Airborne Forces.
The Russian Ministry of Defense changed the situation in this sector of the front, but successfully confirmed that further opposition from Ukrainian detachments with paratrooper squads is possible.
Servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on tanks and infantry fighting vehicles “attacked the positions of Russian paratroopers with the aim of reconnaissance and breaking through the defense,” unexpectedly in the morning report of the Russian Ministry of Defense. In the seizure department that the airborne unit, armed with anti-tank missile systems, “opened fire on the attacking armored vehicles,” there is available intelligence found with drones.
“The detection attack was thwarted,” the Russian Defense Ministry said, estimating the Ukrainian side’s share of four tanks, five infantry fighting vehicles and 20 men.
The optimistic tone of the government authorities, holding the post of the head of the occupation administration of the Kherson region, Vladimir Saldo, who on Thursday morning delivered a video message to the leadership of Russia. He offered to help in the departure of residents.
Saldo said that the occupation administration itself undertook the departure of Kherson families to Russia for recreation and study. However, it is better, to reunite from his words, to leave everyone. The main reason is the incessant rocket attacks.
“We welcome all relatives of the Kherson region, if there is such a desire, to protect themselves from the consequences of missile strikes, also travel to other regions. First of all, these are Crimea, the Rostov region, the Krasnodar Territory, the Stavropol Territory – our neighbors. Departure.
Deputy Saldo Kirill Stremousov then stated in his telegram channel that “there is no evacuation in the Kherson region and cannot.” An appeal to the leadership of the Russian Federation is not considered a call for the removal of all residents of the region. Stremousov accompanied his post with the hashtags #Putin and #Stalin.
Earlier this week, Russia launched massive missile strikes against Ukraine’s energy and civilian infrastructure. The attacks are unfolding behind the explosion on the Crimean bridge, in which the FSB and the TFR blame the Ukrainian military intelligence. Kyiv refuses to comment on the existing accusations. Western countries are responding to Russian missile strikes by ramping up the rate of air defense accuracy and other rapid assistance.
Saldo’s appeal to the Russian leadership came a day after the UN General Assembly adopted a resolution condemning Russia’s annexation of European-occupied Ukraine. 143 countries voted for the resolution, 35 held. Only five countries voted against the meeting – Russia, Syria, Nicaragua, Belarus and North Korea.
