Prague 6 has a new visual face. Her transformation took place after seventeen long years. The design competition was won by ReDesign. The preparations lasted more than a year.
The Prague 6 district presents its new form in visual communication. Among the 76 designs chosen in the design competition organized by the Czechdesign organization, the most successful was the one from the ReDesign studio. This occasion also gave rise to the Prague 6 beer special, which was inspired by one of the proposals.
“We want to keep up with the times, that’s why we teamed up with experts in the field of graphic design and in an open competition we were looking for an original visual style that would faithfully describe Prague 6. The jury unanimously agreed on the winning proposal. We have acquired a complete system of visual communication, which combines modern elegance, dignity, but also tradition. I therefore believe that it will support local residents’ pride in the fact that they are from Šestka,” says Ondřej Kolář, mayor of the Prague 6 district in a press release sent to the media.
The logo itself is very flexible, its form can be applied to both printed and digital media. The logo should be easily recognizable and memorable. A suitably chosen and easily identifiable green color, which evokes peace and nature, will also help in this. The chosen font “Grotesk Civil” from the Czech font line Superior Type prides itself on its easy readability even on a small scale.
“Prague 6 is also very diverse in terms of its residents, many expats also live here. It is therefore very important that the new style is easily readable and recognizable across all age and social groups. The goal was to find a style that would be modern and open world. And the proposal from ReDesign fulfills that,” says Jana Vinšová, director of the organization, in the press release Czech designwhich organized a design competition for the new visual style of Prague 6.
The new style will gradually be used in the official communications of Prague 6. First of all, the change will affect office stationery, employee cards and the branding of the town hall.
