Toulouse. The Museum unveils its next exhibition dedicated to all mummies… natural and artificial!

Being able to see mummies, directly from Toulouse, would you like it? This is the will of the future exhibition proposed by the Toulouse Museumlocated next to the courthouse. It will take place from October 22, 2022 until July 2, 2023, and will be accessible to all with a classic entry. The opportunity to see different mummies, and to understand their conservation techniques.
The mummies take over the museum
“Artificial mummies, witnesses of ancient funeral rites, or natural mummies”, there will be several mummies to observe within the exhibition of the Toulouse Museum. The choice of the museum was to exhibit as much of the heritage as possible human or animal. While focusing on the techniques of contemporary conservationwhich are numerous: “by the action of frost, salt, peat or even amber”.
A first for Toulouse
This exhibition will be a first for Toulouse Museum due to the diversity of themes chosen: mummies, preserved bodies, eternal bodies. But also, by the disciplines necessary to make this exhibition possible: archaeology, anthropology, embalming, forensic medicine, ethnology, biology, genetics, sociology…
Three mummies from the collection of Museum be part of the collection. They have been restored and studied for the occasion.
