The Republic of Moldova will host the next meeting of the European Political Community
The second summit of the European Political Community (EPC) – the project of President Emmanuel Macron – will take place next spring in the Republic of Moldova.
The Republic of Moldova will host the next meeting of the European Political Community, at the suggestion made in Prague by the President of the European Council, Charles Michel.
The proposal was approved by European leaders. Spain and the United Kingdom will then host the following meetings, to preserve the alternation between states and non-EU countries.
President Klaus Iohannis declared that the hosting in Chisinau of the second meeting of the European Political Community in relation to the Republic of Moldova is given due importance.
“I think it is a very important and very positive signal for Moldova that more than 40 European leaders will go to Chisinau and we will debate the issues that now and probably then will be of great importance for our continent. It is a clear signal that Moldova is seen and given due importance. Of course we supported this proposal,” Iohannis said after the first meeting in Prague.
“We see in the European Political Community a platform to strengthen trust and collective solidarity. We are creating the Community in difficult times, and among its first objectives will be joint efforts to restore lasting peace and respect for international law throughout the European continent. Securing the front and the safety of people remain among our main priorities,” Maia Sandu said at the meeting.
“The road ahead of us is not easy and only together can we solve these challenges. We will get through this winter, Europe will come out of it much stronger, and we will be ready to welcome you, next spring, in the Republic of Moldova”, she said.
