The President of Romania urges European leaders to offer the Republic of Moldova “immediate” energy support – Ziarul de Gardă
The President of Romania, Klaus Iohannis, pleaded on Friday, October 7, at the EU summit in Prague, for the support of the Republic of Moldova, including by providing immediate energy support, in view of the cold season.
According to one communique of the administration of the President of Romania, the leader from Bucharest emphasized once again the concern with the effects of the war on other partners in the region, “emphasizing the need to continue supporting the Republic of Moldova, an extremely vulnerable state in the face of these developments”.
“The President of Romania reiterated the fact that you have taken them at the European level, you must also take into account the energy security of the Republic of Moldova, which needs immediate support in view of the cold season”, according to the press release published by the administration of the President of Romania , Claus. Also, the President of Romania explained what hosting the second summit of the European Political Community would mean for the Republic of Moldova. Iohannis claims that this “is a clear signal that Moldova is seen and given due importance”.
“I think it is a very important and very positive signal for Moldova that more than 40 European leaders will go to Chisinau and we will debate the issues that now and probably then will be of great importance for our continent. The second summit of the European Political Community (EPC) will take place next spring in the Republic of Moldova. The announcement was made by President Maia Sandu before the press conference held on the evening of October 6, in Prague, together with French President Emmanuel Macron, the initiator of the CPE, and Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala.
“The proposal to host the meeting of the 44 leaders of European states and regions in our country emphasizes the unequivocal support of our partners for the European future of Moldova. It also reflects the pragmatic and result-oriented character that we want to give to the European Political Community created today. Dear friends, we are waiting for you in Chisinau”, it is stated in a post of the head of state on the Facebook page.
