The importance of the present moment!
We all know it: focusing on the present moment is essential. It is a way of living transformed into living without being nostalgic for the past, nor worried about the future. Living in the present moment therefore means being in touch with what is happening at a precise moment. However, it is not always so simple to apply on a daily basis. The present is within our reach
Come to think of it, life always happens in the present moment. It is in the present that you will make decisions or feel emotions. The past no longer exists, and the future has not yet arrived. The important thing is to understand that the present is the only moment you can control. But many of us want to anticipate. This is the case when we think about future vacations or when we will finally be better. We draw mental plans, we project ourselves. Or we languish in nostalgia, regretting that the vacation week was too short.
All anticipations of the future tend to produce stress and anxiety. We also regret the past and find ourselves haunted by our sorrows.
Coming to terms with the past and accepting the unpredictable
To be focused on the here and now, it is important to realize that the past is immutable. In fact, you can’t change anything about it. On the other hand, you have the opportunity to take stock of everything that you have not accomplished or gone through, to better act in the present!
For its part, the future is unpredictable. Obviously it is important to set yourself medium and long term objectives, but the action on each of its objectives takes place only in the present.
How to live in the moment
First step: learn to no longer submit to your thoughts. As soon as a fear appears, for example, try to redirect your thoughts to the here and now. Meditation can help ground you in the present moment, as can mindful breathing.
Do not hesitate to cultivate gratitude. It is ideal for calming fears related to projections of a future that does not exist. By practicing gratitude, you focus on what you already have, on who you are.
