EPC Summit in Prague: Prague hosted a historic meeting within the framework of the EU Presidency
The summit also had a significant impact on the atmosphere around Prague Castle, the local restaurants were empty and the tourists at the Castle were replaced by policemen who supervised the entire summit. Waiter Evžen (32) from the Císařů Blesku restaurant described how things have been in their restaurant for the last two days: äCompared to a normal Friday, today is a terrible misery, we’ve had about two lunches so far today, I won’t stop here again, it’s about a 90% difference.” Unfortunately, even the members of the delegations did not take care of their sales. However, Evžen believes that it is possible that someone from the summit visited them yesterday. “Yesterday, three gentlemen in suits came, they looked like they could belong to them, they all had a receiver on their ear, so maybe it was some kind of security, they just had a quick coffee and left”, says the waiter Evžen.
On the contrary, stall owner Petr (38) says that not much has changed for him: “I don’t think it’s that much of a difference, at least I’m doing well. Even a few people from the summit stopped by my place yesterday. You can see that there are fewer tourists here, but they have already decreased with the end of the season.”Originally, he even thought of closing the stall for these two days and taking a long weekend vacation. In the end, he’s glad he didn’t, although he admits that he might close earlier today.
